Crime was down last year in the Gainesville Metropolitan Statistical Area (GMSA), which includes Hall County, compared to 2023. That’s according to data from the GBI.
The statistics show that the number of reported murders (9 vs.11), aggravated assaults (303 vs. 388), burglaries (241 vs. 345), larcenies/thefts (2,099 vs. 2,342) and motor vehicle thefts (200 vs. 277) were down, while rapes (91 vs. 70), robberies (59 vs. 49) and arsons (15 vs. 9) were up.
The total number of reported crimes was 3,108 compared to 3,497 in 2023.
