A recent welfare check at a house in Barrow County ended with the arrest of a 51-year-old man after deputies found a 75-year-old relative who had been “severely” beaten.
The sheriff’s office says it happened over the weekend on Tanners Bridge Road. Deputies went to the home after family members said they had not heard from the 75-year-old recently.
According to a news release, when the deputies arrived, they were met by Dexter Armour, who became aggressive and struggled with the officers until they were able to subdue him.
Armour has been charged with three counts of willful obstruction of an officer and aggravated assault, and the sheriff’s office says additional charges could follow as the investigation continues.
There was no word on the condition of the relative.
