HALL CO. SHERIFF’S OFFICE (HCSO) NEWS RELEASE:
“Thanks to financial support from the Cresswind Lake Lanier Community Fund, the Hall
County Sheriff’s Office has launched a professionally-produced video as part of a public
safety education program on scam prevention.
“Even though we have seen a reduction in most crime statistics in Hall County over the last year, scammers have ramped up their efforts to swindle our citizens out of their hard-
earned money. Many of those who have been victimized are senior adults, so we knew we something extra to educate the senior population,” said Sheriff Gerald Couch. “We believe this video is a great tool in furthering the education process.”
Sheriff Couch noted the residents of Cresswind Lake Lanier (LL) in Gainesville historically
have been staunch supporters of HCSO and other public safety agencies, so their offer to
collaborate on the video project was an easy yes for the agency.
“A few residents had fallen victim to scammers, so community leaders wanted to know how
they could help not just their own neighbors, but also other Hall County residents. The
video was the answer,” Sheriff Couch said. “I am beyond grateful for their financial support
on this project.”
The video is available for use by anyone in the community who wants to assist with the
battle against scammers. Already, HCSO has used the video in several community meetings,
complimented by an investigator or community service officer who fields questions from
citizens following the presentation.
The video is available at the Hall County Sheriff’s Office Facebook page.”
