A groundbreaking ceremony will be held Sept. 23 at 2:30 to officially begin construction on the new Pond Fork Sewer Extension Project.
Once completed, this project will add approximately three miles of sewer line along the Athens Highway corridor.
The ceremony is open to the public and will be held at the Eskimo Cold Storage facility property, located at 3001 Athens Highway. Attendees are asked to go to “Building #2” upon arrival. The event will be held at the upper end of the property, closest to U.S. 129.
Construction is funded using the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) and Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (SPLOST) VIII funds. It is expected to be completed next fall.
