A Gainesville man who served as an associate pastor of Central Baptist Church and was a longtime men’s clothier in town has died. Rev. Boone Strickland was 79.
For more than 40 years, Strickland served as sales manager of Barry Menswear.
He was an associate pastor, deacon, teacher, and active member in many leadership roles with Central Baptist Church (CBC). He established the Adult I Class at CBC, guest ministered when needed and worked often as a mentor and counsel. He also led a weekly bible study at Lakes Assisted Living in Gainesville. An ordained minister, Rev. Strickland was a 2006 graduate of the Southern Bible Institute and Seminary of Augusta, where he received a bachelor’s degree of theology.
