The Oakwood City Council will be asked to approve a variance to allow a smaller buffer zone for property at 3995 Atlanta Highway.
Mike Robertson says in his application for reducing the zone from 50 to 25 feet that a variance will allow a smoother transition in grading and a reduction in retaining walls which will fit in better harmony with the adjacent properties. Robertson notes that the property is “fairly narrow” with an average width of 250 feet.
Placing level buildings and parking lots along this property is challenging and is why we request a
reduction in the 50-foot buffer width to 25 feet to allow additional room for grading, his application continues.
“Relief by granting this variance request will better connect with the neighboring properties in the
neighborhood. The variance will allow a smoother transition in grading and a reduction in retaining
walls which will fit in better harmony with the adjacent properties.
“These circumstances are a result of the existing topography of the property as it has sat vacant
for many years and has been difficult to develop.”
Also on the agenda is a request from Justin Bridges for a Conditional Use to allow a pet grooming facility to operate in C-1 “Neighborhood Business District” at property located at 4209 Oakwood Road. C-1 zoning does not allow for such businesses.
