UPDATE: Driver in accident that seriously injured EHHS basketball player charged

The driver of the SUV involved in the accident last weekend that seriously injured an East Hall High School basketball player is now facing four traffic-related charges as a result of the accident.

A spokeswoman for the Hall County Sheriff’s Office said Friday the 17-year-old is charged with reckless driving, driving too fast for conditions, failure to maintain lane and violation of a Class D license.

The sheriff’s office said earlier a 2015 Jeep Wrangler was traveling northbound on Ledan Road in the left-hand curve just before Southers Road and that the driver lost control in the curve. The vehicle crossed over the southbound lane, striking a ditch and then overturning.

Chasen Jones, also 17 and a 16-year-old, were injured and taken to Northeast Georgia Medical Center Gainesville. Jones was released Wednesday.
