GPD fugitive arrested following chase with state trooper

GEORGIA STATE PATROL NARRATIVE:

“(Tuesday) Gainesville Troopers were given a BOLO from the Gainesville Police Department (GPD) related to a vehicle that fled from a traffic stop.  A Trooper was in the area and located the vehicle on SR 323 (Gillsville Hwy).

The vehicle, a Ford F-150, squealed tires in an attempt to leave the area when the driver observed the Trooper’s patrol car.  When the Trooper activated his emergency equipment, the driver fled and initiated a pursuit.  The truck turned into a neighborhood and turned down a dead-end street.  When turning around in a cul-de-sac, the suspect struck a school bus, causing minor damage with no injuries.  The suspect continued and ultimately fled from the vehicle on foot, letting the vehicle roll unattended until it struck a tree.  The Trooper gave chase on foot and took the suspect into custody.

The suspect, Cristian Omar Hernandez Pena, age 31, of Gainesville, GA, was charged with Felony Fleeing, DUI, Possession of a Controlled Substance, and Suspended License, among other traffic charges.”
