An investigation is underway after a restroom at Balus Creek Park on was discovered heavily damaged Monday morning. It was the second time in recent weeks that vandals struck the park, located at the end of Mountain View Road on the shores of Lake Lanier.
A Hall County sheriff’s deputy says he found graffiti painted all over the bathroom building and there was smoke damage to the back door where it appeared a fire had been set. The damage estimate was placed at $10,000.
The exact time the damage occurred is unknown. A ranger who discovered the damage and reported it told the deputy he had last visited the park on Feb. 6 around 2:00 p.m. and there was no damage at that time.
Vandals also damaged a restroom at the park about four weeks ago. EARLIER STORY. POSTED JANUARY 13: Hall park restroom vandalized
