Hall student chosen for Normandy D-Day band

Levi Selman of Cherokee Bluff High School has been selected to represent his school and community as a member of the “All American D-Day Band” in a parade this summer in France, marking the 81st anniversary of the allied invasion of Europe, a key turning point in World War II.

“To the best of our knowledge, this marks the first time a Hall County student has ever received this prestigious honor,” Hall County School District (HCSD) spokesman Stan Lewis said.

The official Ceremonies and Parade will feature participants selected from across the United
States. The parade will proceed down Eisenhower Avenue in the historic village of Sainte-Mere-
Eglise in Normandy. Special commemoration ceremonies will be held at the Brittany American
Cemetery and the Normandy American Cemetery.

The parade is produced annually by Historic Programs.
