Smoke scare at Gainesville school

A smell of smoke at a Gainesville Exploration Academy caused a bit of concern Friday morning until firefighters got there and assessed the situation.

“We had a report of a smell of smoke inside the building,” Gainesville Fire Chief Brandon Ellis said. “Units responded and found an A/C (air conditioning) motor had malfunctioned and seized up on the roof of the building leading to the smell. No issues resulted and classes were able to resume immediately.”

The school is located on McEver Road.
