A new source of help for the mental and emotional well-being of Hall County school students and their families has been established in Chicopee Village.
A product of the Lynn J. Darby School of Psychology and Adolescent Counseling of
Brenau University, the Hall County School District, and the Howard E. Ivester
Early College plans for The Ivester House were announced by the Hall County School District (HCSD) Tuesday.
HCSD NEWS RELEASE:
“The Ivester House’s mission is to support the social and emotional needs of students and
families in our community by providing psychoeducational, therapy, and assessment services
while reducing the barriers and increasing accessibility of these services for students, families,
staff and teachers.
Hall County Schools Director of Student Services, Joey Millwood stated: “As the mental and
emotional wellness of our students continues to be an increasing priority, this partnership is an
incredible opportunity to provide vital support. The collaboration between Hall County Schools,
Ivester House, and Brenau University will create a holistic approach to supporting the mental
health needs of our community, ensuring students and their families have access to the
resources and care they need. By working together, we can make a tangible difference in the
lives of our students, providing them with the support they need to succeed and build resilience
in the face of life’s challenges. We are excited for the impact this partnership will have on our
schools, our students, and our community.”
Beginning February, 2025 and occupying an office located in Chicopee Village, this partnership
will provide the opportunity for free or sliding scale mental/emotional health counseling for all
students and their families within the Hall County School System, Brenau University, and the
community of Chicopee Village. In addition, as available, appointments will be open to those in
the surrounding Hall County community. The services are offered through Brenau University’s
Lynn J. Darby School of Psychology and Adolescent Counseling. Doctoral and Masters level
graduate students training to be therapists and psychologists will provide the services under
the supervision of licensed clinicians.
