Times-a-wastin’, the National Weather Service (NWS) says, and now is the time to prepare for the Arctic cold that is still headed this way.
“An Arctic Cold Airmass is still coming to the region,” a mid-morning Saturday post says. “Once we go below freezing Sunday evening some locations will stay below for a few days. Please begin to take precautions this weekend.”
Forecasters say Gainesville can expect 80 straight hours of temperatures at are below freezing starting Sunday night. Extreme north Georgia – 88 hours. As far south as Valdosta? 37 hours.

And there’s still a chance for some snow and/or ice beginning Tuesday across most of Georgia.
