First responders to a one-vehicle traffic accident on McEver Road Monday night spent a few tense moments while trying to free the driver from the wreckage. That’s because as they were doing so, the car was still in gear and the motor running.
“A man suffered a medical emergency in his vehicle on McEver Road at Maple Avenue,” Hall County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) spokesman Derreck Booth said. “When deputies got to the scene, EMTs were already there, attempting to get the man to respond to them. The first deputy to arrive noticed the man had his foot on the brake and his vehicle in drive. He also tried to get a response from the man without any luck.”
Booth added that other deputies arriving on the scene took measures to prevent the car from traveling into traffic, while Hall County Fire Rescue had to break the driver’s side window to remove the man from the car.
“It turned out he was having a medical episode. He was treated at the scene and released,” Booth said.
