History was made in Forsyth County this week with the swearing in of the county’s first-ever Black elected official.
With his family looking on, Dorian Usherwood took the oath of office as a member of the county school board. He was one of three school board members who were sworn in Tuesday. The others are Tisha Hoyes and Chris Grimes.

Also, this week, county school officials announced new assignments for three employees.
Carrie MacAllaster, Principal of Riverwatch Middle, has been named Principal at
North Forsyth High; Rachel Moity, Principal of Brookwood Elementary, takes over as Principal at
Kelly Mill Elementary; and Katye Carlson, Coordinator of Academic Services for the school system, was
