Drought-free parts of Ga. shrink a bit

Drought-free portions of Georgia grew a bit smaller over the past week. Nevertheless, Hall County and all but a tiny part of northeast Georgia along the South Carolina line remain among the drought-free areas.

The U.S. Drought Monitor (USDM) said that as of Friday morning, 56% of the state was drought-free. Most of the drought conditions are in the southeast and southwest corners of the state with the southwest hardest hit.

Last week, drought-free counties totaled about 67 percent of Georgia.
