The third time was not the charm for two alleged shoplifters from Oakwood recently.
Flowery Branch Asst. Police Chief Todd Templeton says the pair struck first on Thanksgiving, entering a store in the 5800 block of Spout Springs Road. “The individuals worked together to conceal and take merchandise valued at approximately $240.” But they didn’t stop there, Templeton added.
“The suspects returned to the same retail location on December 2…where they repeated their actions, stealing additional merchandise valued at around $280,” he said. And then?
“On December 5…the duo made a third trip to the store. Flowery
Branch Police Officers responded to the scene and successfully
detained the suspects: Jose Rafael Diaz Ibbara, 25, and Yan Carlos
Isiarte Aponte, 33…”
Further investigation revealed that the pair had been selling the stolen
items for profit, Chief Templeton said.
Each has been charged with two counts of theft by shoplifting and one count of retail property fencing.
