Three inmates at the Hall County Jail face charges of battery following an assault on a fourth inmate late last week. And the victim is also facing charges after he got into a confrontation with sheriff’s deputies at the hospital where he had been taken for treatment.
HALL CO. SHERIFF’S OFFICE (HCSO) NARRATIVE:
Cesar Arellano, 42, of Gainesville, Daniel Cabrini Mahroum, 30, of Flowery Branch, and Daniel Nathan New, 37, of Pendergrass, each face a single charge of misdemeanor battery (in connection with the attack on the fourth inmate.)
The incident occurred Friday…when New restrained inmate Jermaine Wesley Jones, 45, of Atlanta, while Arellano and Mahroum punched Jones in his stomach and face. Jones was taken to the hospital for treatment of his injuries. The investigation has not yet determined what led to the altercation.
In addition, Jones was charged with obstruction of an officer as he was being released from the hospital Friday night for transport back to the Hall County Jail. Jones refused to allow the transporting deputy to handcuff and shackle him, prompting a call to hospital security and the Gainesville Police Department for assistance.”
