What some local groups that had been politically active as the presidential election neared are saying about the outcome of the race:
*The head of the Newtown Florist Club which had conducted a vigorous campaign to get people to vote thanked those who did so in a Facebook post Wednesday morning and looked ahead to a future with Donald Trump again in the White House.
“Remember, defeat is only in the eye of the beholder; so, let’s wait and see what lies ahead,” Rose Johnson wrote without naming either Trump or Kamala Harris. “We must keep our eyes open, pay attention and step into this moment being fully present. There is much more work to be done on issues of race, class, gender, equity, health disparities, reproductive health, criminal justice, the environment and clearly challenges that impact working class and poor people.”
*Hall County Republican Party Facebook post: “Thank you God and thank you to every single person that showed up to vote, poll watch, poll work, put signs in the ground, and the list goes on!! TOGETHER we impacted Hall Co and made a huge difference. Rest but don’t go back to sleep! This fight is NOT over! #hallgop #trumpvance2024 #fightfightfight We will NEVER surrender!!!! #trumpvance2024 #hallgop“
