‘Massive’ fire keeps firefighters busy for several hours

A huge fire in Oakwood Tuesday night kept Hall County firefighters busy well into the early morning hours Wednesday.

“At approximately 9:30, Hall County Fire Rescue (HCFR) was dispatched to the 4500 block of Railroad Street in Oakwood,” HCFR spokeswoman Kimberlie Ledsinger said. “Units arrived to find massive pile of trees and limbs on fire at a mulching company.”

Ledsinger said firefighters worked to contain the flames for several hours while the business owner used excavator equipment to help remove the pile of burning trees.

No injuries were reported, and the fire was contained to the pile of debris. The cause of the blaze has not been determined.

According to the Hall County Sheriff’s Office, Railroad Street was closed for several hours because of the fire.
