A Gainesville woman is free on bond after her arrest over the weekend on hit-and-run and several other charges after she abandoned her car after it left the road and struck a tree. The accident happened on Bolman Road early Saturday but was not discovered until about six hours later.
HALL CO. SHERIFF’S OFFICE (HCSO) NARRATIVE:
A Hall County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) deputy was dispatched to the scene of the crash just after 8 a.m. Saturday after a homeowner called to say she found a damaged passenger vehicle in her driveway that had apparently struck a tree on her property. Prior to having the vehicle towed from the scene, the deputy observed empty bottles of vodka inside the vehicle. He was able to track the registration of the vehicle to Aislinn Zapatero, 23. He then went to Ms. Zapatero’s address and found her there.
The investigation determined the accident had occurred around 2 a.m. as Ms. Zapatero was speeding along Bolman Road and left the roadway, striking the tree. Instead of calling law enforcement, she contacted a friend to pick her up. Ms. Zapatero was charged with duty to stop at accident (hit and run), reckless driving, driving too fast for conditions, failure to maintain lane and duty upon striking fixture. She posted a bond of $8,560 and was released from custody.”
