Saturday is another Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) National Prescription Drug Takeback Day and the closet drop-off site to Hall County this time around is the Gwinnett County Police Department Precinct at the Mall of Georgia. The hours are 10:00-2:00.
These periodic events are designed to encourage people to drop off potentially dangerous prescription medications. This includes unused or expired prescription medications. The purpose of the event is to combat overdose deaths, accidental poisonings, or abuse, according to the DEA.
People who have tablets, capsules, patches, or other forms of prescription drugs can drop them off collection sites. Liquids, syringes, sharps, and other drugs will not be accepted. This event is for people who want to get rid of medications but do not have a way of properly disposing them. People who drop off will not be asked questions about their medical history or how they obtained the medications.
