Suspicious package; Rockdale schools reopening; More books banned

(GEORGIA NEWS NETWORK) – The FBI is investigating a suspicious envelope that was sent to the Secretary of State’s office in Atlanta. Channel Two says the agency is looking into a package that was delivered this week with a powdery substance. The chief operating officer of the office says it was likely part of a series of envelopes sent out last month that targeted elections offices around the country.  
 
Rockdale County schools are expected to re-open next week after dealing with effects from a chemical fire. It’s been close to three weeks since plumes of smoke erupted from the BioLab facility in Conyers, which prompted health hazard warnings. Students had been taking part in virtual learning, but campuses will open back up on Monday.  
 
Cobb County is continuing to remove books from school library shelves. Eleven Alive reports six more books were removed, bringing the total to more than 30 since the district started reviewing novels for explicit content. The superintendent has encouraged parents to read the materials before criticizing their removals.
