A Jeep ride followed by a candlelight vigil is planned in Barrow County Saturday night to mark the one-month anniversary of the Apalachee High School shooting.
FACEBOOK POSTING BY ORGANIZERS:
“This is a memorial ride only, no fundraiser, ALL our welcome, and all that is required is a little bit of your time.
Our jeep club, Jeep Girls Mafia, will be leading a police escorted convoy from the Target at 916 Loganville Hwy, Loganville to Apalachee High. Meet time will be 7:00 pm and the convoy will leave at 7:30. If you need to drive directly to the High School that will be fine.
We are inviting any students and participants who wish to participate to create signs/posters in remembrance of all those affected. Students will be invited to hang/display their posters and are welcome to ride in any open Jeep, with parents’ permission of course, from the meet location to the High School.
Upon arrival at the High School a pre-determined location will be marked for all to leave flowers/signs/posters etc. to help build a “memorial wall” for all the students and staff to see when they come back to school.
Candles will be provided for everyone who attends. A short moment of silence will be by held followed by the playing of taps. The event will conclude following these short events.”
