HCSO: 19-year-old woman caught burglarizing a house

A woman from Cumming remained in the Hall County Jail Monday morning following her arrest early Sunday after a homeowner found her inside the family residence and held her at gunpoint until sheriff’s deputies arrived.

HALL CO. SHERIFF’S OFFICE (HCSO) NARRATIVE:

“Just before 2:15 a.m., deputies with the Hall County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) were dispatched to the residence on Pony Lake Road to investigate a burglary in progress. When they arrived, they found the homeowner with the suspect, identified as Colton Ray Land, 19, inside the front door of the residence. Land was placed in custody and transported to the Hall County Jail.

The preliminary investigation determined the homeowner’s wife heard a noise inside the house. As the homeowner checked the residence, he also heard a noise and grabbed his handgun. He saw a stranger (later identified as Land) exit an upstairs bedroom of the house. He ordered Land to the floor and held her there while the wife called 911. No shots were fired during the course of the incident.

Further investigation determined Land was in the area because she and another woman had been passengers in a vehicle traveling along the roadway. The two women argued and were ordered out of the vehicle by the driver…

At this time, Land remains in the Hall County Jail. No bond has been set for her release.”
