Helene: 6:30 p.m. JEMC report

Jackson EMC says virtually all of its members have now had their power restored.

As of 6:35 Friday evening, 99% had power following Hurricane Helene’s impact. 1,610 Jackson EMC members remained without power, down from a peak of nearly 20,000 earlier Friday.

“We understand how challenging it is to be without electricity and that each outage represents a family or business. We appreciate your continued patience and support during this challenging time,” said Tommy Parker, vice president of operations.

“Restoration efforts will continue throughout the night until every member has their electric service restored,” spokeswoman Wendy Jones added. “Our personnel assisted by crews from Pike in Texas, Five Star in Kentucky and Huntsville Utilities in Alabama will continue to work to restore power as quickly as conditions and safety procedures allow.”

As of 6:35 pm, the electric co-op was experiencing outages affecting 1,610 members:
