Hall County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) investigators recently charged a Gainesville man with smash and grab burglary for a theft that occurred in April.
HCSO NARRATIVE:
“Hall County Jail personnel served Oscar Rodriguez-De-Jesus, 26, at the jail, where he’s been held since his May arrest in a separate case.
The latest charge stems from a Thursday, April 18, crime at 1050 McEver Road in the business of The Sports Shack. Deputies responded to an alarm at the establishment between 1:00 and 1:30 a.m. and observed the glass shattered on the front of the store. They set up a perimeter and searched the store for their safety. No one was found inside.
Most of the glass display cases in the store had been shattered, and items including sports cards and memorabilia were taken. The stolen merchandise was valued at more than $7,100 with damage to the business estimated at greater than $10,000. Investigators obtained the warrant for Rodriguez-De-Jesus in the case on Sept. 26.
Rodriguez-De-Jesus has been in jail since May 15, when he was arrested by deputies for a late-April theft by taking case in the 2000 block of 4th Street. In that crime, he took a stereo system and watches, worth more than $1,500, from a vehicle.”
