White County officials recently reported the first confirmed case of rabies in the county in more than two years.
WRWH says it occurred in a coyote that attacked a homeowner and their dog on Partin Road.
The homeowner suffered a bite on one leg and was able to kill the attacking animal which was shipped by county officials to a state lab in Atlanta which in day or two confirmed that the coyote was rabid.
Before this incident, there had not been a reported case of rabies in the county since January 2022.
