NWS: Major ‘cooldown’ expected this week

Are you ready for a break from the hot weather of the past several days that saw high temperatures in the mid- to upper-90s most days? Well, if you are you’re in luck.

While the heat will persist through Labor Day, the rest of the week will bring a “decent cooldown” for the beginning of September, according to the National Weather Service (NWS).

High temperatures most of this week in Gainesville are predicted to be about 20 degrees cooler than last week – with readings in the low- to mid-70s. Nighttime lows will be in the 60s, as opposed to the 70s.

And the outlook for the next five days is for a continuation of the cool spell. Not just in Georgia but for the whole eastern half of the country.
