The drought that has plagued parts of Georgia for several weeks continued to loosen its grip on the state this past week and is now mostly contained to about 20 counties in north Georgia, most of them north of Atlanta.
Locally, only the northwest corner of Hall County bordered by Forsyth, Dawson, Lumpkin, White and Habersham counties is dealing with a drought, according to this week’s report from the U.S. Drought Monitor (USDM). Other counties bordering Hall, except for a tiny part of Banks, are considered drought-free.
