(FROM GEORGIA NEWS NETWORK) – Georgia is experiencing a summer surge in COVID-19 cases, with a rise in patients showing symptoms at medical clinics, Emergency rooms and Urgent Cares.
Dr. Luke Lathrop, the chief medical officer at a Roswell clinic has seen patients of all ages with COVID-19 symptoms, most of which have been mild, but he has sent several to the ER. He said that recently, more than one-half of patients he had treated in a single day were positive for COVID-19.
The state epidemiologist for Georgia, Dr. Cherie Drenzek, notes that the spike in cases aligns with previous patterns seen during the pandemic. Public health officials are urging people to practice good hygiene and prepare for a potential winter wave by getting the updated vaccine when it becomes available.
