Gville man charged with sending ‘obscene’ texts to a HCSO investigator

HALL CO. SHERIFF’S OFFICE (HCSO) NARRATIVE:

“A Gainesville man is being held without bond for sending harassing messages to a Hall County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) investigator and failure to register as a sex offender.

HCSO Warrant Service Unit deputies took custody of Jermaine Latrese Stringer, 37, of Gainesville, on Wednesday afternoon, Aug. 7, following his arrest by the U.S. Marshals Service.

According to initial details, Stringer contacted an HCSO Sex Offender Registration and Tracking (SORT) Unit investigator eight times last month, sending sexual and obscene text messages. The texts were sent between July 23 and 27. Additionally, Stringer, a convicted sex offender, failed to update his home address within 72 hours of being released from jail in July.

Stringer was charged with failure to register as a sex offender (felony), harassing phone calls (misdemeanor) and distributing obscene material (misdemeanor). He is also being held for felony probation violation.”
