An additional lane on I-85 northbound in Jackson County is now open.
It’s part of a 13-mile widening of I-85 northbound and southbound increasing from two to three lanes from U.S. 129 to U.S. 441.
The work also includes replacing and widening four bridges in two locations. These projects are part of the long-range plan to widen I-85 to the South Carolina state line.
Coming up, crews will finalize the additional lane on I-85 southbound and anticipate opening the third lane the following week. Work replacing bridges is ongoing.
