Domestic incident leads to shooting; 2 men wounded

A shooting Tuesday evening, August 6, 2024, outside of a residence on Greenway Road in
East Hall County that hospitalized two men remains under investigation by the Hall County
Sheriff’s Office (HCSO).

HCSO deputies were dispatched to the scene just after 6:30 and found the victim, a 27-
year-old man, suffering from a gunshot wound to his right leg. The suspected shooter, 31-
year-old Devin Julius Collins, had fled the scene. Another deputy responding to the scene
located Collins walking southbound on Old Cornelia Highway. Collins had suffered a
gunshot wound to the abdomen.

Both were taken to the hospital for treatment of their wounds.

The preliminary investigation determined Collins had been threatening members of his
family throughout the day, telling them he would come to the residence on Greenway Road
and shoot them. He arrived at the home and with a gun and confronted two family
members outside the residence; he fired his weapon, striking the male victim, but missing
an adult female victim. The male victim, who was armed with a handgun, returned fire,
striking the suspect one time.

Arrest warrants were secured for Collins for aggravated assault and aggravated assault
under the Family Violence Act (FVA), both felony crimes.

Collins was transported to the Hall County Jail after his release from the hospital Wednesday afternoon.
