The Chattashoochee Baptist Association’s Good Samaritan food ministry has urgent needs, spokeswoman Debbie Lyter said Tuesday. The source of their food, the U.S. Department of Agriculture, “is empty, with no likelihood of replenishing the shelves any time soon.”
This means that Good Samaritan is buying food items locally at 5-7 times the prices that USDA sold to them. The funds in the bank will now start dwindling faster as they desperately try to continue to feed the people who are in need. Also, the coolers, equipment, (and) trucks are in constant need of repair.
So, how can you help? By buying supplies and taking them to Good Samaritan or Flat Creek Baptist Church.
Needed items:
Canned vegetables/beans
1 pound bagged rice
Boxed macaroni and cheese
Peanut butter
1 pound dried beans
2. Or, making monetary donations directly to Good Samaritan.
The Good Samaritan black container for drop-offs at the church is in its foyer. The church is at 1220 McEver Road, Gainesville.
