A brief chase, an admission of guilt

Oakwood Police say a motorist who led officers on a brief chase early Wednesday morning admitted his guilt after he was stopped.

“(About 6:30), officers observed Daniel Mejia driving recklessly on Oakwood Road,” spokesman Stewart Webb said Thursday. “Officers initiated a traffic stop and attempted to pull Mr. Mejia over.”

But he added, “Mr. Mejia attempted to elude the officers and eventually pulled over on Oakwood Road at Prestwick Drive. Mr. Mejia admitted that he was trying to get away before the officers could catch up to him.”

Mejia is charged with Fleeing or Attempting to Elude, Obstruction of an Officer, Reckless Driving, and Driving While License is Suspended or Revoked.

Bond has been set at $11,250.
