UPDATED: S. Hall man jailed; allegedly tried to stop police from arresting brother

A 32-year-old Oakwood man, David Angel Medina, is being held without bond following an incident Sunday at his home involving Oakwood Police offices and Hall County sheriff’s deputies. The deputies were assisting Oakwood officers as they served an arrest warrant on his brother, Victor Madina.

According to the sheriff’s office, the events unfolded this way:

The preliminary investigation indicates David Madina refused to allow law enforcement personnel to enter the residence on Tracy Lane so they could carry out the requirements of the warrant. He physically blocked deputies from entering the home. He also gave false information to deputies in an effort to prevent them from locating the suspect named in the arrest warrant.

Eventually, law enforcement was able to conduct a security sweep of the residence and locate the wanted suspect. The suspect, Victor Medina, was arrested on Oakwood PD charges. (According to Hall County Jail records those charges include Duty to Make Immediate Reports of Accidents, Following Too Closely, Drive While License Suspended/Revoked, and Prohibition on Nude or Sex Explicit Electronic Transmissions.

Regarding the latter charge, Oakwood Police say Medina’s girlfriend had filed a report against him for posting a video of them having sex on Facebook. “She showed the post to responding officers, who obtained an arrest warrant for posting the video,” Detective Sgt. Stewart Webb said. The three additional warrants, Sgt. Webb said, relate to a for a hit and run in 2023 “where he struck another vehicle on Mundy Mill Road in front of the Walmart. He fled the scene prior to the officers’ arrival.”

David Medina was charged with hindering the apprehension and punishment of a criminal, a felony, and misdemeanor obstruction. He remains in the Hall County Jail with no bond at this time.
