A 77-year-old Clermont man is free on bond after his arrest following a dispute with a “recovery” team trying to repossess a vehicle on his property early last Friday.
The Hall County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) said Monday John Russell Brummett has been charged with Pointing a Pistol at Another, a misdemeanor.
“The victim, 31, came onto Brummett’s property to repossess a vehicle between 12 and 1 a.m.,” according to the sheriff’s office. “Brummett pointed a handgun at him while he was hooking up the vehicle for towing. The recovery agency called 911, and deputies responded.”
After the initial investigation, deputies arrested Brummett. He was released from the Hall County Jail later that morning on $1,300 bond.
There was another confrontation recently in the county over a repossession to which sheriff’s deputies responded, but it ended peacefully and there were no arrests.
