‘We are at a crisis level in fraud’

Just since Jan 1 have gotten at least six reports of scams that have cost local residents thousands of dollars. And now, a new AARP-commissioned report says scams have grown “exponentially,” and “relatively few” of the scammers are being caught.

Those six local cases resulted in losses of $41,200, including one alone that totaled $14,000.
