One critically wounded in shooting

An investigation continues following a Wednesday evening shooting on Floyd Road in Gainesville that left one man critically injured, according to the Hall County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO).

HCSO NARRATIVE:

“Hall County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) deputies and criminal investigators were dispatched to a residence on Tulip Drive just after 7 p.m. after a caller reported finding the victim wounded at the front door of the home. When they arrived, they discovered the 33-year-old male victim suffering from a gunshot wound to the abdomen. The victim was transported to the hospital where he was last reported in critical but stable condition.

The preliminary investigation determined the victim was shot at a location in the 2000 block of Floyd Road.

Investigators were able to identify the shooting suspect as 30-year-old Dalvontae Dammon Stephens of Gainesville. Deputies detained him and transported him to HCSO Headquarters for an interview. He was subsequently charged with aggravated battery, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony and discharge of a firearm near a public highway.

Stephens was transported to the Hall County Jail where he remains with no bond.

The motive in the shooting remains under investigation at this time.”
