*The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) has issued a public appeal for help in locating the thief or thieves who got away with $80,000 work roofing material recently. The theft happened Sunday in the 1700 block of Valentine Industrial Boulevard. The vehicle used in the theft is described as a pickup with after-market wheels, which was pulling a dual-axle trailer. *Meanwhile, the Gainesville Police Department (GPD) is investigating a case of Porch Piracy five checks totaling $4,612 were stolen from the front porch of an apartment complex. It happened in the 2500 block of Columns Drive between 2:00 and 5:40 Friday afternoon.
