UNG names leaders for its Cadet Leadership Academy

The University of North Georgia (UNG) has named retired Lt. Gen. James Terry as the inaugural senior vice president and superintendent of the Cadet Leadership Academy, effective June 24. Additionally, Col. Bryan Kirk will serve as associate vice president and chief of staff of the Cadet Leadership Academy, effective with the start of the fall semester.

“These two leaders will have an immediate and profound impact as we strive to shape the future of our Corps of Cadets,” UNG President Michael Shannon said.

Terry, a native of Chatsworth, graduated from North Georgia College (now UNG) in 1978. He retired from the Army in 2016 and since then has served the Defense Department as senior vice president for strategy and business development at Cubic Defense.

Kirk will retire as a special forces officer after 27 years in the Army.
