“On Saturday, April 13, 2024, at 4:20pm, the Forsyth County 911 center began receiving calls about a bicyclist that had been struck at the intersection of Castleberry Road and Kings Common Way.
The initial investigation determined a maroon 1994 Chevrolet C1500 pickup truck, driven by 48-year-old Matthew Holbrook of Cumming, was traveling northbound on Castleberry Road in the inside lane. A bicycle, operated by 71-year-old Victor Godyn of Cumming, had entered the intersection from Kings Common Way traveling westbound. Mr. Godyn had almost made it past the inside lane when he was struck by the pickup truck. Mr. Godyn was pronounced deceased at the scene.
A deputy conducted an impairment investigation on Mr. Holbrook, and it was determined he was DUI drugs. Warrants for Mr. Holbrook were obtained for Vehicular Homicide and DUI drugs. This case remains under investigation.”
