*A 55-year-old Gainesville man reports losing $15,000 between Nov. 22, 2022, and April 1, 2023, to Computer Fraud and Abuse. The theft was reported earlier this week. No other details including why he waited so long to report it.

*In another case, a 73-year-old man says he lost nearly $3,900 through the illegal use of a credit card. This occurred, according to Gainesville Police, between Nov. 24, 2023, and last Wednesday, when it was reported.

*Winder residents are bracing for a $9.17-a-month increase in what they pay for trash and garbage pickup. The fee will increase from $29-a-month, the rate for the past 10 years, to $38.17. “Rising costs” are cited as the reason.
