For some I-985 afternoon rush hour motorists Tuesday, it was rough going.
First, there was a roadside brush fire that slowed things, then there was a traffic accident that closed both northbound lanes in one area for a while. That occurred near Mile Marker 14, according to a traffic alert posted by the Hall County Sheriff’s Office. Details on the crash itself were not available Tuesday night.
The brush fire occurred southbound just a mile away near Plainview Road, the sheriff’s office said, and was “making traffic difficult in the area.” Even though one lane remained open while firefighters fought to extinguish the fire, it was “making travel difficult in the area” and traffic was “very slow.”
All of this happened around 4:00.
