The average price for a gallon of gas is up today compared to a week ago.
AAA reports that the price for regular unleaded in Gainesville is $2.96, an increase of three cents since last Monday. The statewide average saw a four-cent increase to $3.00 a gallon. The national average is also up a few cents to $3.12, the first weekly increase since September. A spokesman for AAA says this upward trend will likely continue into the new year.
