Hall schools receive $1M from Ivester foundation

The Hall County School District (HCSD) has received a second one-million-dollar donation from The Melvin Douglas and Victoria Kay Ivester Foundation to be utilized in funding three new cutting-edge laboratories for the campus of Lanier College and Career Academy.

The labs will provide educational experiences for students pursuing careers in
design and media production, industrial electricity, and automotive collision and repair. A
fourth program, cyber security, is planned for the future and will utilize the design and media
production lab. Named the Ivester Early College Career Ready Program, the new expansion will
be available to all dual enrolled high school students through the district’s partnership with
Lanier Tech.

“The Ivester Foundation is pleased to continue its investment in Howard E. Ivester Early College
and Lanier College and Career Academy,” said Lynn Darby, president of the foundation. “The
unique opportunities afforded the students of Hall County through these programs are
tremendous. Investing in the young people of Hall County has been a major objective the
Foundation since its inception, and I know Doug’s father, Mr. Howard E. Ivester, would take
great pride in this moment and in this investment.”

Superintendent Will Schofield expressed his gratitude for the foundation’s commitment to local
education.
