A 60-year-old man apparently drowned while swimming in Lake Lanier Thursday afternoon. It happened at mid-afternoon at the Shoal Creek Campground.
The state Department of Natural Resources (DNR) got the call about 3:30. Witnesses said the man, whose name has not been released, went under water and did not resurface.
His body was recovered about 7:30 in about nine feet of water.
