46-yr-old man charged with assaulting his 71-yr-old mother

A domestic incident in early May involving a 46-year-old Oakwood man and his 71-year-old mother ended with the son in jail. But he was not arrested until this weekend.

According to an Oakwood Police report, an officer responded to a Crest Hill Drive address May 6 “in regards to a physical domestic dispute in progress.”

The officer said his investigation determined that the woman, Barbara Dodson, was struck in the face and knocked to the ground causing “substantial bruising and swelling to her face and head” and that her son, Michael Dodson, was responsible.

The son “was determined to be the predominant aggressor of the incident and warrants for Elder Abuse and Battery were taken on him. There are also allegations of financial transaction fraud that are being investigated.

A spokesman for the Hall County Sheriff’s Office said Dodson was arrested Sunday afternoon by the department’s Warrant Service Unit and a patrol deputy in the 3700 block of Bolding Circle.
