The state patrol Monday released details of a Saturday night wreck in South Hall in which three people suffered minor injuries.
STATE PATROL NARRATIVE:
“On March 9, 2024, at 7:23pm, Troopers were dispatched to a crash at Popular Springs Rd and Bell Rd.
Upon arrival the investigation determined that a Nissan Altima was stopped in the eastbound left turn lane on SR 332 (Poplar Springs Road) at the intersection of Bell Road. The driver of the Altima was waiting to turn left onto Hope Road.
A Mercury Grand Marquis was traveling westbound on SR 332 approaching the intersection of Hope Road. Ford Fusion was traveling in the eastbound left turn lane on SR 332 approaching the Altima.
The driver of the Fusion was intending to turn left onto Hope Road and was traveling too fast to stop behind the Altima. The driver of the Fusion then crossed the center double yellow line into the westbound lane to pass the Altima and turn left onto Hope Road.
The driver of the Mercury steered to the right and the Fusion struck the left front bumper of the Mercury with the left front bumper of the Fusion. This crash caused the Fusion to rotate clockwise and strike the left side of the Altima with its right front bumper and right side.”
